Senior BI Developer

As our new Senior BI Developer, you will join an international, cross functional team based in Randers, Denmark, collaborating closely with colleagues in Krakow, Poland. You will be part of the Data & Analytics department, dedicated to establishing a robust, high quality reporting layer and semantic foundation that empowers innovation and operational excellence across the business.

Your Role
You will be at the forefront of our reporting strategy, by defining standards, models and governance as we build a new data platform and elevate our BI maturity. Working primarily with Power BI while also collaborating and working with SAP BW/SAC where relevant, you will translate business goals into reusable semantic models, golden datasets, and consistent KPI definitions. You will champion managed self service, ensure performance and trust in data, and coach teams to adopt modern BI practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the reporting strategy: Define the principles, guardrails, and operating model for enterprise reporting and managed self service.
• Own semantic models and “golden datasets”: Design dimensional models, author measures/KPIs, and implement row level security for reuse across domains.
• Standardize KPI definitions: Establish a governed KPI/catalog process (naming, versioning, change control) and align logic across platforms (Power BI and SAP BW/SAC).
• Enable self service at scale: Provide templates, design standards, and review gates, curate certified content and deprecate duplicates.
• Performance and reliability: Optimise dataset refreshes, capacity usage, and query performance, enable monitoring and incident response.
• Bridge legacy and future reporting: Collaborate with teams and developers to bridge existing solutions and future deliveries
• Partner across roles: Work closely with Product Owners, Domain Architects, Data Governance, and business stakeholders to align on outcomes and adoption.
• Drive continuous improvement: Identify, track, and remove blockers; automate routine tasks; raise the quality bar for the reporting estate.

Requirements

• Proven experience building enterprise Power BI and/or SAP Analytics Cloud solutions (data modeling, DAX, RLS, deployment pipelines, Query Design alignment) and working knowledge of Microsoft Fabric concepts.
• Strong grasp of dimensional modeling and semantic layer design; track record delivering certified datasets for broad reuse.
• Practical experience with managed self service governance (roles, workspace structure, certification, lifecycle management).
• Ability to collaborate with SAP BW/SAC teams (query design alignment, KPI harmonization, access/authorization patterns).
• Solid engineering practices: version control, peer review, testing approaches for BI assets, and performance tuning.
• Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to present complex ideas to non technical audiences.
• Facilitation, strategic thinking, and mentoring skills; ability to influence across teams and operate effectively amid change and uncertainty.
