Category Manager - Energy

We are currently seeking an experienced category manager to build the category strategy, and who can create high value cross-organizational in close collaboration with selected suppliers through SRM (Supplier Relationship Management).

You take ownership of your own category
In this position we are searching for a Category Manager who can lead the Energy Category which would include Natural Gas, Water, Solar, Wind, Electricity, and Technical Gases with a total spend of 1.5 bl. DKK annually. With steady hands you take lead in defining and implementing the category strategy aligned to the business needs and deliver on both value and ESG targets for the category. You have a natural data approach and gather and evaluate data with focus on which projects and strategies should be implemented and present a category strategy to key senior stakeholders, sharing best practices and wins within colleagues across Group Procurement.  

Your primary tasks will be:
•    Take the lead in defining and executing the energy category strategy aligned to business needs whilst working with the guidelines of the Danish Crown Energy Policy
•    Define and implement category strategy contributing to transforming Danish Crown into a net zero company by 2050 including renewable energy sources 
•    Co-lead the Danish Crown Group Energy Board in conjunction with the Danish Crown Head of Sustainability 
•    Deliver on targets for the category (value and ESG)
•    Supplier Relationship Management 
•    Establish advanced market insights, and be seen as Subject Matter Expert 
•    Establish risk mitigation strategies
•    Conduct tenders and complex negotiations

You will work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, meaning you are communicating clearly and engaging. The category responsibility covers the business units in Denmark, UK, Germany, Sweden, and Poland. 

You have a commercial education and several years of experience from a similar position as a Category Manager, Sourcing Manager or similar positions with expertise of the Energy Markets where you can showcase and demonstrate solid results. 

Area of responsibility
•    Manage all areas of spend relating to energy including Natural Gas, Water, Solar, Wind, Electricity, and Technical Gases (Carbon Dioxide, Oxygen, nitrogen, dry ice) across multi sites and across 5 geographies (UK, Denmark, Sweden, Poland and Germany)
•    Drive strategic alliance and development with strategic key suppliers
•    Monitor energy markets and regulatory changes to anticipate fluctuations in prices and develop risk management strategies and report on accordingly 
•    Analyse energy consumption data and identify opportunities for energy efficiency improvements and cost savings (with Stakeholders and Suppliers)
•    Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, policies and standards related to procurement and sustainability 
•    Ensure alignment and involvement in all Business Units CapEx projects (particularly green energy solutions) ensuring rigorous due diligence and transparent tendering during the process  
•    Work with our Engineering Team in establishing companywide solar energy plants 
•    Accelerate innovation from suppliers and the market including supplier relationship Management (SRM)
•    Display highly advanced stakeholder management 
•    Engage proactively with stakeholders (incl. stakeholders on a senior level) within and outside Danish Crown to drive aligned decisions
•    Develop and maintain detailed complex cost model (should cost) and fact-base for the category including the design of energy models related to business cases
•    Conduct complex data analysis

We expect that you: 
•    Have strong skills with Category Management, Supplier Relationship Management, Contract Management and Supplier Innovation within the Energy Category 
•    Have a proven track record of delivery sustainable energy solutions on a multi site/geography basis
•    Have experience in complex data management and has solid analytical skills 
•    Have a solid business understanding and a strategic mindset 
•    Enjoy working with procurement models and are familiar with Power BI, PowerPoint and Excel. 
•    Communicate effortlessly in Danish and English both oral and written
