Category Manager, Direct Materials 

Are you looking for an opportunity to take your category management skills to the next level? Look no further! We are currently seeking a motivated category manager to set directions, create effective category strategies, and build solid relationships with both suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Danish Crown Group Procurement are instrumental in driving supply chain optimization, and we want to develop our relationships towards key suppliers through our SRM-program (Supply Relational Management). 

We are looking for a skilled new colleague with a solid strategic procurement toolbox, who can take lead in further supply chain optimization as well as build strong relationships with key suppliers. and facilitate an even stronger and more successful cooperations.

The position can be located in Randers, Denmark or Krakow, Poland depended on what is possible for you.  

You take ownership of your own category
You will work in a team of great colleagues who all are responsible for sourcing various sub-categories within our Direct materials category. Direct Materials at Danish Crown are i.e. food, ingredients and packaging. In other words, everything from spicemixes, vegetables and casings to packaging items as; plastic packaging, boxes, labels and metal cans. In other words, everything that are part of the Danish Crown products you buy in your supermarket. With steady hands you build and develop the sub-categories within your area of responsibility, and run various efficiency and optimization projects, combined with managing suppliers and agreements. 

You have strong analytical skills which is the backbone in establishing your category strategies and identify opportunity for supply chain optimizations within your area of responsibility. 

Your primary tasks will be:

• Develop and execute your category strategy
• Strategic procurement program execution
• Build and maintain strong SRM programs with key suppliers
• Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners and suppliers through effective relationship management
• Develop and strengthen ESG development with main suppliers.

You will work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, meaning you are communicating clearly and engaging. The category responsibility covers our business units primarily located in Denmark, UK, Germany, Sweden, and Poland. 

We expect that you: 

• Have strong skills and proven track record delivering solid results within Category Management, Supplier Relationship Management and Contract Management 
• Have experience in complex data management and has solid analytical skills 
• Have a solid business understanding and a strategic mindset 
• Enjoy working with procurement models and are familiar with Power BI, PowerPoint and Excel. 
• Communicate effortlessly in English; both oral and written 
• Experience within the food & ingredients categories or within strategic sourcing of packaging is an advantage

Ideally you have a commercial education, a MSc Merc, Trade diploma or other relevant training, and minimum 5-8 years of strategic Procurement and 5 years of SRM experience e.g., as Category Manager, Sourcing Manager, Vendor Manager, Supply Chain Consultant or similar positions where you can display solid results within procurement, category management and supplier relationship management.
