Director of Road Logistics

Then you might be the new Director of Road Logistics at Danish Crown.

 

In this position, you will play a strategically critical role in consolidating, globalizing, and standardizing the logistics set-up of the recently merged business units Danish Crown Foods and Danish Crown Pork.

 

The position: Ensure alignment of road logistics and manage operational excellence
You will lead a skilled team of logistics specialists and facilitate the alignment and development of all road logistics in your business unit (BU), while also leading and managing operational excellence in the outsourced part of the supply chain.  

 

The overall purpose of the role:

  • Managing the entire road logistics setup in Danish Crown BU, including both Fresh & Processed flows, intercompany transports, and final distribution to customers
  • Leading and managing operational excellence in the outsourced part of Supply Chain
  • Taking active ownership of LSP-operated activities and driving the operational development agenda with LSP
  • Taking active part in the Logistics Management team and acting as contributing partner amongst stakeholders

 

Your key stakeholders are:

  • Danish Crown Logistics
  • Shipping departments at all sites
  • Market directors and management teams
  • Production directors and management teams
  • Global IT and IT support
  • Group functions such as finance, procurement & logistics

 

Your responsibilities and tasks

Are you ready to work towards a leaner, more efficient logistics organization within the Danish Crown BU?

 

Your main responsibilities include:

  • All road transport within Danish Crown BU in terms of service levels, shipping, operational costs, performance, and continuous improvement of setup
  • Business development – identify the logistic needs of stakeholders and value-adding solutions within own area
  • Facilitate initiatives around CI, strategy deployment, business processes, performance management and ways of working
  • Operational escalation point, LSP responsibility and performance, capacity & quality, and annual budgets

 

Your specific tasks include: 

  • Managing daily operations within the road activities in Danish Crown BU and towards the shipping departments
  • Exporting transport equipment from Denmark. You will be the go-to person for issues at Danish sites and suppliers within the area of equipment
  • Being an active and visible functional leader of the area – both as direct manager and as owner of logistic community 
  • Managing operational supplier meetings, applying Group standards within SRM
  • Participating in performance management meetings within internal stakeholder groups
  • Active participation in the Logistic Management Group – performance management, team meetings, and process-/organizational development

Your background and qualifications
As a professional, you add value to the business and your team by leveraging your experience from a cross-functional business position within logistics management. 

 

Specifically, you: 

  • are used to operating in an international environment with a multitude of stakeholders
  • understand the importance of hearing different perspectives on complex issues, and you take the necessary time to involve stakeholders. 
  • have a thorough understanding of supply chain and transportation methods/modes, cost structures, service requirements, 3rd party engagement, 
  • are experienced with building infrastructure to ensure optimal day-to-day management of business
  • have strong leadership skills within people and functional area, internal and external
  • the ability to communicate at multiple levels, internal and external
  • have a functional understanding of customer SC’s and 3rd party engagement
  • are analytical and fact-based in approach
  • are proficient in the English language
