Maintenance Engineer Nightshift | Bugle

As a key member of our engineering team, you will ensure optimal plant uptime by delivering vital planned preventative maintenance, machinery installations and diagnostic fault-finding during non-production hours.

What you will be doing

Working four night shifts per week, you will take ownership of maintaining equipment reliability across our Bugle facility while operating with a high degree of autonomy.

  • Provide hands-on maintenance, diagnostic support and fault-finding across butchery, curing and sealing equipment to minimise production downtime.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), machinery installations and equipment modifications that can only take place when production is paused.
  • Work closely with Production, Hygiene and Quality teams to support line performance while maintaining strict compliance with Health & Safety, GMP and HACCP standards.
  • Log detailed maintenance activity within the CMMS system and conduct thorough shift handovers.

What you will bring

We are looking for a practical, self-motivated engineer with a strong technical background who thrives working independently. The ideal candidate combines hands-on engineering expertise with a meticulous approach to plant reliability.

  • Experience: Previous background as a mechanical or electrical engineer within an FMCG environment, preferably in food manufacturing.
  • Hard skills: Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting capabilities across processing, packaging, automated equipment, drives, motors, sensors and PLC controls, supported by a recognised engineering qualification.
  • Soft skills: Highly organised with excellent attention to detail, strong self-direction and the confidence to work comfortably with little or no supervision.

Why join us

We offer a competitive salary, alongside a four-day nightshift schedule that provides three full days off each week. To set you up for success, your role will begin with a structured daytime training period before you transition to night shifts. Our overall package includes a 5% matched pension, life assurance worth four times your annual salary, a Medicash health plan, 28 days holiday plus bank holidays, a subsidised on-site canteen, free parking and staff discounts.

Beyond the financial rewards, this role offers genuine autonomy and ownership within a pivotal engineering function. You will benefit from ongoing training and career development opportunities, working within a supportive environment that values personal growth and offers room for progression across a global food manufacturing business.
