Butcher/Trimmer 

Introduction

 

“We are looking for Butchers or Skilled Trimmers to work in our butchery department, our factory in Bugle, St Austell.  The Butchery specialises in the deboning of pork legs, and then trimming the product depending on customer requirements.  You will be working on pace lines as part of a team to ensure the legs are be-boned, cut and trimmed to the standards required and within the targeted time.  Experience of pork butchery is not essential, as we have a butchery trainer to support in developing existing butchery skills to pork.

 

We have 2 shift patterns operating;

 

AM Shift 06:00-15:00 Monday –Thursday and 06:00-14:30 Friday

PM Shift 15:00-24:00 Monday to Thursday and 14:30-23:00 Friday

 

Within this role there may be the requirement to work additional or different hours to cover the business needs at peak times, so flexibility is required.

 

We have a clear grading and pay structure for our butchers and trimmers, this is made up of a basic hourly rate and a bonus rate per hour.  Our butchery Section Leaders and trainer will work with you to ensure you reach your full potential as a butcher or trimmer.

 

L1 Trimmer OTE £9.33 per hour (£8.83 basic + £0.50 OTB, average last 12 wk earnings £9.60 per hour)

L3 Butcher  OTE £11.86 per hour (£9.26 basic + £2.60 OTB, average last 12 wk earnings £13.26 per hour)

There is an addtional £0.40 per hour after 12 weeks for working on the PM shift.

 

 

The Job

  • To be a hands-on Butcher or Trimmer supporting the delivery of daily performance targets for your designated pace line.
  • To De- bone and trim pork legs to required customer specifications.
  • Removing all bone chips and cartilage from legs.
  • Placing completed products
  • To examine the quality of finished product to ensure it has met the required standard.
  • To wear PPE provided correctly this would also include ear protection.
  • Support the delivery of key performance targets within your area, ensuring attention to detail and that procedures are followed.
  • Act as a role model and lead by example demonstrating Core company values, behaviours and high-performance standards at all times

  • Experience of butchery or trimming.
  • Will be positive, flexible and hardworking with a passionate commitment to quality
  • Successful candidates will need to demonstrate good manual dexterity, have a good eye and hand co-ordination, show attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Delivery of key targets in your area
  • Able to carry out the physical tasks that would be reasonably required
  • Able to work within a team and independently
  • Ability to work and deliver to deadlines.
  • Ability to follow instructions and procedures accurately and consistently.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy with all tasks.
  • Experience of working within a factory environment (Desirable)
  • Experience of working within food manufacturing (Desirable)
